Wilburton ninth grade GEAR UP students tour the University of Arkansas Fort Smith

Wilburton ninth grade GEAR UP students recently toured UAFS (University of Arkansas Fort Smith). Students were met by UAFS student ambassadors, and discussed the admissions process as well as on-campus and online degree programs. UAFS offers 74 academic programs, including 33 bachelor degrees, 14 associate degrees, and 27 certificates. As the students were divided into two groups and led through campus, UAFS student ambassadors discussed the importance of freshman year of high school, which is the time to begin thinking about future educational plans. Bokoshe GEAR UP students visited the Symphony by the Sea at the Oklahoma Aquarium

Eighteen Bokoshe eighth and ninth grade GEAR UP students recently attended Symphony by the Sea at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks, Oklahoma. Oklahoma Aquarium partnered with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra to create an experience combining both arts and science. The students were guided by Oklahoma Aquarium Education Specialist, Alyssa Rodriguez, through three galleries in the aquarium to learn about a particular animal or habitat from the aquarium combined with a selected musical ensemble. Rattan eighth grade students tour Paris Junior College

Rattan eighth grade Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP students recently toured PJC (Paris Junior College) in Paris, Texas. Students were greeted at the Williams Administration Building by Academic Advisors Misty McMikel and Randy Hider. The tour began with an informational session about the application process to PJC followed by the importance and process of financial aid. McMikel and Hider gave students the opportunity to ask questions about what it takes to attend PJC, and allowed the students to choose which departments to visit. Crowder GEAR UP students tour Connors State College

Thirty-four Crowder eighth and ninth grade Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP students recently toured Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma. Students began the day in the Fine Arts Auditorium where they received information about Connors State College, current staff, available majors, work-study programs, sports, and financial aid. Students participated in a campus tour where they viewed the Equine Barn, Classroom Building, Student Union, and Melvin Self Fieldhouse. Throughout the tour, students received information regarding financial planning for college, including completion of Oklahoma’s Promise in eighth, ninth, or 10th grades. Fanshawe eighth grade Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP students recently toured CSC (Connors State College) in Warner, Okla. CSC Assistant Director of Recruitment Chandler Young met the group at the Fine Arts Auditorium where she provided students with an introduction and overview of the college. Cameron eighth and ninth grade Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP students recently toured UAFS (University of Arkansas Fort Smith) in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Seventeen Shady Point eighth grade GEAR UP students recently toured NSU (Northeastern State University) in Tahlequah. Students began the day at the University Center where they were greeted by NSU Campus Visit Program Graduate Assistant Bailey Rush, and NSU Student Ambassadors Tim Gardenhigh and Cheyenne Johns. Howe eighth and ninth grade GEAR UP students recently toured CSC (Connors State College) in Warner, Oklahoma. The tour began in the Fine Arts Building.
