Area Middle and High School Math and Science Teachers Receive Texas Instruments Technology and Training

Forty-five area middle and high school math and science teachers recently participated in a three-day TI (Texas Instruments) training at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. The workshop was designed to help teachers integrate the TI-Nspire Navigator Systems effectively into classroom instruction, which helps students explore, understand and connect the principles of science, math, coding engineering design, and electronics. Each teacher received more than $7,000 in TI equipment. The trainings were conducted by Texas Instruments Specialists Mike Smith and Sandra Hocutt. Recent Professional Development workshops held at Puterbaugh and Indianola

Puterbaugh Middle School teachers watch a video during the recent Love and Logic professional development workshop presented by GEAR UP Education Coordinator Brianna Brassfield. Brassfield presented Unit 5, Developing Positive Teacher/Student Relationships. The workshop was provided free to the partner school faculty and administration. Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP team attends the 2019 Rural College Access and Success Summit

Three Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP team members recently attended the 2019 Rural College Access and Success Summit at The Lexington Convention Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Over 500 educators from across the United States attended the Summit. Team GEAR UP team members attending were Education Coordinator LaDonna Baldwin, Education Coordinator Leslie Hemphill, and Assistant Project Director Dara Self. Eight members of the Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP team recently attended The Business Grammar and Proofreading Seminar in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The seminar was presented by Lucy Belt, a trainer for National Seminars Training. Belt is one of the most experienced business communication trainers in the United States. She began her career as a high school English teacher and has extensive experience in the corporate world.
