Hartshorne seventh grade GEAR UP students tour Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium

Forty-five Hartshorne seventh grade GEAR UP recently toured the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium. Membership Coordinator Madeline Butler began by dividing the students into two groups in an effort to ensure students a better learning environment. Planetarium Manager Bryan Kyle began his portion of the tour in the James E. Bertelsmeyer Planetarium. Students watched a movie, “Stars,” on a full-dome screen. Kyle discussed the night sky and educated students on the difference between the colors of the stars. The hottest stars appear blue, while the coldest stars appear red. Poteau eighth grade GEAR UP girls explore the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium

Fifty-three Poteau eighth grade girls recently traveled to Tulsa to explore the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium. The museum houses many different aircraft and replicas related to different eras of flight, including the aviation history in Oklahoma. In the planetarium, viewers can recline and enjoy full-dome videos. Poteau students enjoyed the show “Stars”. This production propelled students through space as they witnessed up close and personal the birth and death of stars in our galaxy. “Supernova” is the term used for the death of a star. Fifty-five Poteau eighth grade students recently toured The Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium. Upon arrival, students entered the planetarium and experienced the high-definition visual presentation “Stars,” They learned of the creation and death of stars, space travel, and how stars impacted past cultures, and their travel habits. “I liked learning about the solar system in the planetarium and how stars are born and die” said eighth grade student Andrew Riley. Antlers 8th grade GEAR UP students tour the Tulsa Air and Space and Museum & Planetarium

Antlers 8th Grade GEAR UP students recently toured Tulsa Air and Space Museum. Museum Volunteer Pete Barnosky led the tour and pointed out several highlights of the Museum. Following the tour, students had free time to explore the Museum and experience many of the hands-on exhibits—the Grumman F-14A Tomcat, Rockwell Ranger 2000, Bell 47-K Helicopter, the Aeromet Aura, Space Shuttle Robotic Arm and a Model of the Space Shuttle. Buffalo Valley GEAR UP students recently toured Tulsa Air and Space Museum. Students began the tour boarding the Museum’s MD-80 that was donated by American Airlines after 26 years of service and 39,968 flights. On board they were able to have the “Flight Experience” which is a video presentation about space exploration and flight.
