Rattan eighth grade GEAR UP students visit the Oklahoma Aquarium

GEAR UP eight grade students from Rattan recently visited the Oklahoma Aquarium. Students visited the maze of exhibits. Students enjoyed the touch tanks where they touched crawfish and sponges. They also liked the feeding tanks where they fed turtles. There are many exhibits for students to explore. They visited Aquatic Oklahoma, where students saw prehistoric paddlefish, alligators, and feed turtles. They continued their tour with Extreme Amazon, where students viewed fish up close, crawled under exhibits, and viewed the animals from below the tanks. Rattan seventh-grade GEAR UP students recently visited the Oklahoma Aquarium. Students walked through the maze of exhibits on a self-guided tour. The Oklahoma Aquarium is divided into several areas that feature water life from around the world as well as here at home in Oklahoma. Rattan GEAR UP students tour Southeastern Oklahoma State University

Rattan GEAR UP students recently toured Southeastern Oklahoma State University, “The Campus of a Thousand Magnolias.” Students were welcomed by University Admissions Counselor/Recruiter Sheridan Burns and Admissions Counselor and Transfer Recruiter Charles Jackson joined by SOSU seniors Cara Worsham and Callie Bryant. Students began their tour at the Glen D. Johnson Student Union. Burns and Jackson led the Clayton students to the Paul Laird Field, the football stadium that was renovated with funding by the city of Durant sales tax. Rattan 7th grade GEAR UP students explore The Museum of the Red River

Seventh grade students from Rattan recently explored The Museum of the Red River in Idabel. The Museum is home to 30,000 cultural objects from six continents, and Oklahoma’s State Dinosaur, Acrocanthosaurus atokensis. Its exhibition program includes temporary and permanent displays, with the majority using objects drawn from its collections. The museum is hosting the exhibit Arts of the Pacific Northwest. The art of the Northwest Coast typically consists of highly stylized designs that represent people, animals or supernatural beings.
