Eufaula GEAR UP students toured OSUIT

Thirteen Eufaula High School 11th and 12th-grade GEAR UP students recently toured OSU-IT (Oklahoma State University of Technology) in Okmulgee, OK. Whitesboro Students Visit Hochatown Animal Rescue and Petting Zoo.

Recently 11th and 12th grade Whitesboro GEAR UP students toured Hochatown Animal Rescue and Petting Zoo (HRC). During their visit, students were led through buildings that included interaction with the animals. Workers spoke to students about the various animals’ natural habitats and conservation efforts being used to preserve the species. Spiro GEAR UP seniors visit the Muskogee War Memorial

Fourteen Spiro GEAR UP seniors traveled to Muskogee, OK. to visit the Muskogee War Memorial Park: Home of the USS Batfish submarine. James Erb, the War Memorial Park and Museum Curator, welcomed students as they entered the museum. He gave them a short presentation about the museum, its artifacts, and his military background. GEAR UP Provides Professional Development to Local Schools

GEAR UP Professional Development has provided professional development to over 360 teachers and CPR training to over 650 students in 2022-2023 school year. Like all Professional Development, GEAR UP provides CPR training to students at no cost to the school, allowing them to meet graduation requirements.  These services keep schools up to date on state requirements and allows them to expand training opportunities. Fourteen Moyers GEAR UP students recently visited the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks, Oklahoma. The tour began with a behind the scenes tour led by Oklahoma Aquarium Education Specialist Hallie Moss. Thirty-six GEAR UP students from Atoka High School recently traveled to Dallas, TX, to tour the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. Bokoshe GEAR UP students visited the Tulsa Zoo

Nineteen Bokoshe, junior and senior GEAR UP students, recently visited the Tulsa Zoo. The students took a self-guided tour of the 84 acres and 13 exhibits. Some exhibits the students toured included the Lost Kingdom and African Plains, the Rainforest, and the Chimpanzee Connection. Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP hosted Texas Instruments training for local partner schools held at Eastern Oklahoma State College (EOSC). EOSC’s GEAR UP grant brings in Texas Instrument coaches for a two-day training tailored to fit the needs of teachers within the grant’s 32 schools.
