Sixty-nine Spiro ninth grade GEAR UP students recently toured UAFS (University of Arkansas Fort Smith). Upon arrival, student ambassadors MiKayliegh Norris, Fatima Bonilla, and Abigail Powloshi introduced students to the heart of the campus, the Smith-Pendergraft CC (Campus Center), and provided an overview of UAFS. Antlers ninth grade GEAR UP students recently visited Murray State College in Tishomingo. Students began the day at Fletcher Auditorium, and then toured some of the main buildings on campus. Haileyville eighth and ninth grade students visit The Durant State Fish Hatchery and Atoka Museum and Civil War Cemetary

At the Durant State Fish Hatchery, students learned about the history and efforts of the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Fisheries Division. GEAR UP Students Travel to Texas for Extraordinary Tours

Ninety-two ninth grade students and nine sponsors boarded two buses (one leaving from Poteau and one from McAlester) to travel to Texas for an exciting adventure provided by EOSC (Eastern Oklahoma State College) GEAR UP. Forty-five area middle and high school math and science teachers recently participated in a three-day TI (Texas Instruments) training at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. Clayton eighth-grade GEAR UP students visit Fort Smith National Historic Site

Eighth-grade GEAR UP students from Clayton recently visited the Fort Smith National Historic Site in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Students viewed a short film of the history of the area and the fort.
