Eufaula ninth grade GEAR UP students tour Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology

Twenty-eight Eufaula ninth grade Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP students recently toured Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee. Students began the day meeting Friends of Pete, the on-campus student recruitment team that assists with recruitment events. Students viewed a presentation about OSUIT programs, and then participated in a walking tour of campus, learning about the LASSO Center, library, and graphic design and culinary arts programs. Throughout the tour, students gained additional information about OSUIT by asking questions regarding admissions, tuition, graduation, and employment.  Following the tour, students ate lunch on campus in the Cowboy Café, providing students another aspect of college life.

The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017, and will serve more than 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
