McAlester 8th grade GEAR UP boys tour Northeastern State University

January 3, 2019

Eighty-nine McAlester 8th grade GEAR UP students recently toured Northeastern State University (NSU) in Tahlequah. Students began the day at the W. Roger Webb Educational Technology Center where they were greeted by Kaylee Switzer, Northeastern State University Representative and alumnae, and Northeastern State University Student Ambassadors, Lexie Billingsley, Mollie Hearn, and Caroline Rowland. McCall Middle School GEAR UP students tour East Central University

Ninety-eight GEAR UP students from McCall Middle School in Atoka recently traveled to Ada to tour East Central University (ECU). The seventh and eighth grade students and their teachers began the day in the Estep Room inside the Bill S. Cole University Center. After a brief introduction, Admissions Recruiter Alyson Chapman provided a brief overview of ECU and campus life. Stringtown GEAR UP students tour East Central University

Thirty GEAR UP students from Stringtown recently traveled to Ada to tour East Central University (ECU). The seventh and eighth grade students began the day in the Regents Room located in the Student Union with a brief introduction to ECU and collegiate life given by Admissions Recruiter Alyson Chapman. Chapman explained the admissions process and encouraged the students to begin preparing now by working on grades, having good behavior, and monitoring their social media accounts.

Wilburton 8th grade GEAR UP students recently toured Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee (OSUIT). Sable Vasquez, OSUIT Special Events Coordinator and tour guide began the tour at the Donald W. Reynolds Technology Center. Twenty–three Whitesboro 7th and 8th grade students recently visited the Oklahoma City Zoo. Students spent the afternoon exploring the indoor and outdoor animal exhibits offered by the Oklahoma City Zoo. They discovered different habitats such as Sanctuary Asia which encompasses the elephant pavilion and habitat. The 14.5 acres is home to the newborn elephant, Kairavi. One hundred and twelve Poteau GEAR UP students recently traveled to Tulsa to tour the Southeast campus of Tulsa Community College (TCC). Buffalo Valley GEAR UP students recently toured Tulsa Air and Space Museum. Students began the tour boarding the Museum’s MD-80 that was donated by American Airlines after 26 years of service and 39,968 flights.
