Cameron GEAR UP students tour the Oklahoma Aquarium

Twenty-four Cameron 6th and 7th grade GEAR UP students recently traveled to Jenks to visit the Oklahoma Aquarium. Students were given a personal tour of the Aquarium by Education Specialists Michelle Zarantonello including some “behind the scenes” looks. Thirty GEAR UP students from Harmony Public Schools recently toured the Durant State Fish Hatchery located on the Blue River in Durant. Thirty-eight McAlester GEAR UP students recently traveled to Oklahoma City to visit the SKELETONS: Museum of Osteology. Students were welcomed to the museum with multiple skeletons in the lobby area. Atoka GEAR UP students tour Oklahoma City Zoo

Ninety-three GEAR UP students from Atoka Public Schools recently toured the Oklahoma City Zoo located in Oklahoma City’s Adventure District. Students enjoyed exploring the zoo which is home to more than 1,900 animals. The exhibits include an Asian themed section that houses the elephant habitat with outdoor yards, pools, waterfalls and a barn which can be viewed from a raised boardwalk. Bokoshe GEAR UP students tour Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve

Seventeen Bokoshe 6th and 7th grade students were welcomed to Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve in Bartlesville with a grand tour ride through Haunted Grove Trail experiencing the wildlife of American Bison (buffalo), elk (wapiti), North European fallow deer, llamas, ostriches, water buffalo, ducks, and a variety of birds. Forty-two Eufaula GEAR UP students recently traveled to Jenks to visit the Oklahoma Aquarium and Tulsa to tour Tulsa Community College (TCC). Students began the morning by participating in a guided tour at OK Aquarium. Education Specialist Michelle Zarantonello led students behind the scenes of the OK Aquarium exhibits. The tour started at the newest addition to the aquarium, Sea Turtle Island. The exhibit features a 300-pound loggerhead turtle and many other species of fish.

Coalgate sixth grade GEAR UP students tour Science Museum Oklahoma

Forty-three GEAR UP sixth grade students from Coalgate Public Schools recently toured the Science Museum Oklahoma. Students spent the day exploring the home to 350,000 square feet of hands-on science experiences, art, and history. The students enjoyed the Science Floor, the heart of the museum with hundreds of activities to teach, entertain and astound. Students learned to drive a Segway, draw spiral grams with a large pendulum, and experience a tornado in the weather station.

Canadian GEAR UP sixth and seventh graders tour Tulsa Community College & OK Aquarium

Fifty-one Canadian GEAR UP students recently traveled to Tulsa to tour Tulsa Community College (TCC) and Jenks to visit the Oklahoma Aquarium. Students began the morning by participating in a guided tour at the Southeast Campus of TCC. Student Recruiters William Baldwin and Ali Castillo led students through the beautiful campus.
