Wister sophomore GEAR UP students recently visited Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. Students were greeted by Sarah Foster, School and Community Programs Coordinator upon arrival. Students were given a guided tour of the “This is US (United States),” art exhibit. Students viewed works of art and explored their interpretation of each piece of art through discussion. Students spent the remainder of their visit touring the art museum independently. Cameron GEAR UP students recently toured OSUIT (Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology) in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Students were greeted by OSUIT Tour Guides at the Grady Clack Center. The day began with a presentation over OSUIT admission requirements, degree programs offered, and a overview of campus life. Students were then lead on a walking tour of the campus. The first stop was a tour of Truck Technician program. They were shown the training area and given information on admissions into the program, as well as what they could expect after graduation. Howe ninth and 10th grade Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP students recently participated in a virtual tour of SOSU (Southeastern Oklahoma State University) in Durant, Okla. SOSU Recruiter Steven Harris connected with the students via Zoom, a virtual meeting platform, where he showed a presentation overview of SOSU and discussed various topics, including the admissions process and requirements, degree programs offered, the importance of ACT scores, and financial aid and scholarship opportunities. One hundred sixty-three McAlester ninth grade GEAR UP students recently participated in a virtual tour of Northeastern State University. Due to COVID-19, and complying with the school’s safety standards, adjustments were made to the normal on-campus college field trip to give students an insight to a college experience at NSU. NSU representative Sara Ryals connected with the students via Zoom, which is a video conferencing platform. Ryals introduced herself and shared her experience as a NSU student.
