Panama GEAR UP students tour the Tulsa Historical Society Museum

Thirty-seven Panama junior and senior GEAR UP students recently toured the Tulsa Historical Society Museum in Tulsa, OK. Neal Pascoe greeted the students at the museum. Pascoe is the museum’s Director of Education and Volunteer Coordinator. He discussed the layout of the museum and a little information about how the museum started. Exhibits found in the museum were the Timeline of Tulsa, the Historic Route 66 through Tulsa, Fashion thought out the years, the Oklahoma Oil, the Tulsa Tribune, and more. Before returning to Panama, the students enjoyed an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet at CiCi’s Pizza.

The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017 and will serve over 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
