Twenty-two Bokoshe junior and senior GEAR UP students recently toured East Central University (ECU) in Ada, OK. The tour began with the Director of Student Recruitment, Ashlee Heck, greeting students and showing a short video of all things ECU. Go Tigers! After the video, she answered questions about everything from campus life to the degrees offered. Next, students took a walking tour of the campus led by Student Ambassador Chrystano Cooper. Cooper directed students to commonly used buildings on campus, such as the Business Center, library, classroom buildings, dorms where they would be living, sports facilities, and the Esports room. The tour ended at the campus cafeteria, where they enjoyed an all-you-can-eat buffet before returning to Bokoshe.
The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017 and will serve over 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
