Wilburton 11th grade GEAR UP students tour Connors State College

Wilburton junior GEAR UP students recently toured Connors State College (CSC) in Warner, Oklahoma. CSC Director of Recruitment and Enrollment Jessica Langston greeted students in the Library Learning Center. Langston provided the students with an introduction and overview of the college, financial aid, scholarships, and the degree programs available on campus before starting the tour. Langston led the students through the halls of the Education and Classroom Building, which host various courses, before heading the Horticulture facilities. Students had the chance to experience vegetables grown in one of the greenhouses. Langston then led the students to the EQA (Indoor/Outdoor Arenas Center), which is used for equine training, classes, rodeo practice, and several special events sponsored by the division of agriculture. Students concluded the tour by learning about dining options and eating lunch in the Student Union.

The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a

$17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017 and will serve more than 3,000 students in 39 area

schools for seven years.
