Crowder GEAR UP Students Virtually Tour Eastern Oklahoma State College
Thirty-three Crowder freshmen and sophomore GEAR UP students recently participated in a virtual college tour of EOSC (Eastern Oklahoma State College). Darby began by discussing some of the benefits of attending a two-year college, such as cost-saving opportunities and being close to home. GEAR UP students received a pamphlet with all the degree programs EOSC offers. Darby then introduced some of the most acclaimed programs offered at EOSC. She talked about the EOSC Nursing program being number one in the state along with having an award-winning Agriculture department that provides a full degree and certification program that can start a student on a career path within 24 months. Next, students were given a virtual tour of the EOSC campus. Lastly, Darby answered questions and encouraged students to visit EOSC’s main campus in Wilburton once it was safe to do so and reiterated the benefits of experiencing the campus in person. The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017, and will serve more than 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
