Hartshorne GEAR UP student’s tour Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum

Fifty-three GEAR UP juniors and senior students from Hartshorne High School traveled to Dallas, Texas to tour the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. The day began with a greeting from the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum special staff Katie. The tour began in the Cinemark Theater, were students watched a film over the Holocaust and listened to stories from some Holocaust survivors. Next on the tour was the Special Exhibit. Last on the tour students were lead through the museum where students learned about the history of the Holocaust and an in depth look artifacts and stories of all that happened during the Holocaust. Hartshorne students have been learning about the Holocaust and the field trip gave them a better understanding of the history of the Holocaust.

The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017 and will serve more than 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
