Nineteen Bokoshe, junior and senior GEAR UP students, recently visited the Tulsa Zoo. The students took a self-guided tour of the 84 acres and 13 exhibits. Some exhibits the students toured included the Lost Kingdom and African Plains, the Rainforest, and the Chimpanzee Connection. Some of their favorite animals were the red panda, tigers, lions, rhinos, and the newest zoo member, the tiny Siamang, and infant Ppnda. The students enjoyed an all-you-can-eat lunch at Incredible Pizza in Tulsa.
The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017 and will serve over 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
