Howe junior and sophomore GEAR UP students recently toured OSUIT (Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology) in Okmulgee. OSUIT is a recognized leader in applied technology education.
Students were greeted at the Grady Clark Center by Abigail Rush, Student Success Facilitator upon arrival. Rush provided students with an overview of the academic programs offered, admission requirements, tuition costs, and the history of OSUIT. Students then viewed a presentation video of Dr. Bill R. Path, president of OSUIT speaking to students about the expertise of instructors and job placement upon graduation.
After the presentation, students were given a tour of two of the programs OSUIT offers which included the High Voltage Lineman and Business programs. Students learned that each program on campus uses a hands-on instructional approach. Next they had the opportunity to get a feel of how campus life would be as an OSUIT student. Students toured Miller-Kamm which includes dorms and Wilson Commons, Covelle Hall Wellness Center, and the Learning Resource Center before ending their tour in the Student Union where students were provided lunch by the Cowboy Café.
