Clayton ninth and tenth grade Eastern Oklahoma State GEAR UP students recently participated in a virtual tour of Texas A&M University hosted by FOCUS Training, an EOSC GEAR UP Partner. The virtual tour began with a welcome from Latrell Armstrong, FOCUS Training representative. Students were given an overview of the university which included the admission requirements, tuition, housing costs, and student life information. Next students were given a virtual tour of Texas A&M University campus. Following the tour students were given an opportunity to ask questions about the university. Armstrong discussed the importance of asking questions about the college and the admission process.
The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017 and will serve over 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
