Coalgate eighth grade GEAR UP students tour Murray State College

Forty-one Coalgate eighth grade GEAR UP students recently toured MSC (Murray State College) in Tishomingo. Students were greeted by MSC Recruiter Craig Kelley who gave them a brief overview of college life and expectations. He explained to students that a two-year college like MSC is a good place to start their collegiate adventure allowing them to learn how to be a college student in a safe and less expensive environment than a four-year college. Coalgate GEAR UP students tour CLEET

Seventy-five GEAR UP students from Coalgate recently traveled to Ada to tour CLEET (the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training). The seventh and eighth grade students were greeted inside the K.O. Rayburn Training Center by Operations Manager Shannon Butler who gave a brief overview of the purpose and mission of CLEET. He explained that police academy training is more than just learning about firearms and fast driving. Training also involves learning constitutional law and Oklahoma statutes. Coalgate sixth grade GEAR UP students tour Science Museum Oklahoma

Forty-three GEAR UP sixth grade students from Coalgate Public Schools recently toured the Science Museum Oklahoma. Students spent the day exploring the home to 350,000 square feet of hands-on science experiences, art, and history. The students enjoyed the Science Floor, the heart of the museum with hundreds of activities to teach, entertain and astound. Students learned to drive a Segway, draw spiral grams with a large pendulum, and experience a tornado in the weather station.
