Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP
Sponsors FREE Chad Cargill ACT Test Prep Workshop
for GEAR UP Sophomores

Three hundred seventy area high school sophomores from 21 schools are now better prepared for the ACT thanks to a free test preparation workshop offered by Eastern Oklahoma State College’s GEAR UP for Success grant program.

The three-hour ACT and Character Building Workshop was presented by Chad Cargill, founder and president of Cargill Consulting. Cargill developed the workshop after taking the ACT 18 times and increasing his score from a 19 to a 32.

“We are excited to offer this tremendous workshop for free to our GEAR UP sophomores,” said GEAR UP Project Director Linda Morgan. “Chad Cargill is nationally known for his expertise and ability to instruct students on how to take the ACT and increase their test scores. It was a great opportunity for the students to receive expert advice.”

Eastern is in its fourth year of the $12.6 million federal GEAR UP grant. GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federal initiative to increase the number of low-income students who enter and successfully transition into postsecondary education.

Students attending were from Antlers, Atoka, Bokoshe, Buffalo Valley, Canadian, Clayton, Crowder, Haileyville, Hartshorne, Indianola, LeFlore, McAlester, McCurtain, Moyers, Panama, Pittsburg, Quinton, Rattan, Savanna, Stringtown and Wilburton Public Schools.
