Indianola Tenth Grade GEAR UP Students Visit Connors State College

Sixteen Indianola tenth grade GEAR UP students recently visited Connors State College in Warner, Okla. Students met with the Director of Recruitment Logan Nero in the Fine Arts Building. Nero provided the students a booklet that included various CSC information, and then showed them a PowerPoint presentation, which included information about admissions, financial aid, tuition and fees, and student life on campus. Madison, a CSC work-study student, gave the students a walking tour of campus. Students saw the campus bookstore, gym, indoor arena, and Classroom Building, which was built in 1908 making it the oldest building on campus. After the tour, students enjoyed lunch in the A.D. Stone Student Union. Before departing CSC, Sodexo Campus Services General Manager Joanne McLain gave each student a drawstring bag filled with various CSC knickknack items. The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017, and will serve more than 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
