Rattan eighth grade students tour Paris Junior College

Rattan eighth grade Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP students recently toured PJC (Paris Junior College) in Paris, Texas. Students were greeted at the Williams Administration Building by Academic Advisors Misty McMikel and Randy Hider. The tour began with an informational session about the application process to PJC followed by the importance and process of financial aid. McMikel and Hider gave students the opportunity to ask questions about what it takes to attend PJC, and allowed the students to choose which departments to visit. Students toured several departments across campus, including the Workforce Training Center and the Applied Science Center where students learned about various healthcare programs as well as HVAC, CAD and welding, which are just a few of the many majors offered at PJC.

The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017, and will serve more than 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
