Fanshawe eighth grade GEAR UP students tour Connors State College

Fanshawe eighth grade Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP students recently toured CSC (Connors State College) in Warner, Okla. CSC Assistant Director of Recruitment Chandler Young met the group at the Fine Arts Auditorium where she provided students with an introduction and overview of the college. She discussed the different degree programs as well as the importance of ACT scores, financial aid, and scholarships. Young challenged students to begin thinking about their future. After touring the Fine Arts Auditorium, students were led through the Education Building where math and science classes are held. Next, students visited Miller’s Crossing, the main housing option for CSC students. Young discussed student life and the activities on campus, encouraging students to get involved in college. The last stop on the tour was the Student Union where students ate lunch. Students learned about dining options, and enjoyed the fellowship with Young while asking questions about life as a college student.

The field trip was sponsored by Eastern Oklahoma State College GEAR UP. Eastern received a $17 million federal GEAR UP grant in 2017, and will serve more than 3,000 students in 39 area schools for seven years.
